IOU participates in WACREN 2026 Conference in The Gambia

The International Open University (IOU) participated in the West and Central African Research Network (WACREN) Conference 2026 held in Banjul from 26-27 March 2026.

WACREN 2026: Engaging in high-level discussions on digital infrastructure, open science, and cross-border innovation across Africa from 23-24 March, 2026. The insights gained from these sessions contribute to a shared vision of building a more connected, collaborative, and digitally sovereign Africa.

In a major milestone for The Gambia, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST) of the Republic of The Gambia and West and Central Africa Research Network Conference (WACREN) announced the official launch of the Gambia Research and Education Network (GAMREN), an initiative set to transform connectivity and data sharing among national universities and strengthen research and innovation.
